Dear Friends and Family,“Something wonderful will happen today”. As requested, I will continue with the personalities for two more sessions defining them with their strengths and weaknesses. The first is the SANGUINE personality – Are we having fun yet?Their strengths are: Their weaknesses areLoves Fun Would rather talk than listenOutgoing – gregarious Doesn’t follow throughMakes friends easily Decides by feelingsA lot of hand gestures Dislikes Schedules Exciting Can’t say NOEasy to spot Makes excuses Animated Gets bored easilyBright dramatic clothing Loses track of timeLoves to laugh, hug and is spontaneous Easily distracted Creative/colorful Naturally loudThrives on activity Speaks without thinkingNatural sales peopleVocal varietyTalker of lifeWould probably drive a convertible or sports carThe second is the CHOLERIC personality – Am I in charge yet?Fearless Activist Little tolerance for mistakesIn charge OpinionatedFixes problems Can’t relax Decisive Workaholic tendencyLoves a challenge NervyNo fluff ArrogantBorn Leader Control positionProduction oriented Scowl on faceExcels in crisis Concerned with functionExudes confidence Tells you what, when and howWorker of life Would probably drive a Sherman tank if availableThe Melancholy and Phlegmatic will be defined next week. Mother Theresa said: To keep a lamp burning we have to keep putting oil in it – We can oil ourselves thru education, it is the springboard for healing. Understanding ourselves will help us better understand people in our family, co-workers, people we meet and come across in throughout our life.Have a peaceful and loving weekend. “Something wonderful will happen today”. I hope all went well for you this week. Fall is here and things are moving forward in everyone’s life – classes, gatherings, lunches. In that context, I thought we would continue with the personalities . Did you have a chance to ponder as to what category you fit into? Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholy or Phlegmatic. Before we go into definitions, allow me to share some other information.A certain personality doesn’t determine your intelligence, predict your success or how well adjusted you are. What it does do, is to uncover what motivates and energizes you. Sharing and learning from one another in this University of Life is what we can strive for. What is a personality you ask?? It is the sum total of characteristics acting out our strengths and weaknesses of who we are.
- Stamps out individuality
- All equal but different
- God’s plan of who we are and who we become
- We are all diversified
- Difference doesn’t mean better or worse
- Difference is not wrong
- Dismiss judgment
Preliminary identifications are:Sanguine – the Happy WayCholeric - My WayMelancholy – The Right WayPhlegmatic – The Easy WayWhich one sounds like you? The Popular Sanguine who likes fun but has a short attention span – The StarThe Powerful Choleric who likes to be in charge – The Director who tells you what to doThe Perfect Melancholy who likes perfection to a fault might be the ProducerThe Peaceful Phlegmatic might be the Audience –non confrontational and peacefulYou might be thinking, I may be one way sometimes, but at other times I’m very different. Doesn’t the situation influence my personality type? – No !Do we change our behavior in certain situations – Yes! Most have a tremendous repertoire of behaviors available to them. Yes, we act differently at work, home, strangers, close friends or play.People do not change their basic personalities but rather adjust to the situation. However, some people are forced by circumstances to act in a certain way until they are literally not themselves anymore – thereby masking who they truly are.More next week. – Have a joy filled weekend.Much love and light,Grace aka Rocky
TGIF September 16, 2011“Something wonderful will happen today”. How many have noticed there are people out there different from you. How many have worked with, live with or used to live with someone different than you. How many have tried to change that person or someone trying to change you – has it worked????? It seldom does. It doesn’t seem to work and yet there are people who continue to try to change one another. In 1923, Carl Jung said the commonality of all people is that we don’t know how to communicate thereby losing the connection with each other. Why???? One of the reasons is that we don’t understand one another and where we might be coming from. For many years, I taught the different personalities and how we can improve the relationships that are in our life. For the next couple of weeks, I would like to define and share my knowledge of these different personalities. We will start by identifying some of the idiosyncrasies of each one and perhaps get some insight to the different strengths and weaknesses of us all. We need to remember that we are all endowed with seeds of greatness… We are just not endowed with the same seeds. What are your seeds????? I was mentored under Florence Littauer, a national and international speaker and writer and was captivated the first time I heard her speak in 1994. I knew I needed to learn more, flew to California to be mentored and certified. This program dates back to Hippocrates – 400 B.C. Socrates said, “Know thyself”. Those fellows were on to something. Hippocrates officially named the personalities as follows: since he was a doctor, he saw his patients in medical terms. Here they are –Sanguine – These were patients with high energy.Choleric - These were patients connected to control and angerMelancholy – These were patients deep in intellect and perfectionPhlegmatic – These were patients keeping peace and mostly passive.I will let you ponder on where you might be and next week, I will go into more definitive examples.Have a scrumptious weekend.Much love and light, Grace aka Rockywww.gracegraziano.comggraziano2@cfl.rr.com

“Something wonderful will happen”
Dear Friends and Family,
“Something wonderful will happen today”. Yes, I feel well enough to continue with my blog. As many of you know on Feb. 25th, I had a fall in my home, ending up with 2 surgeries, 57 days in re-hab and I am recovering from this triple fracture. So many of you near and far have come to my aid with love, support, meals, cleaning, shopping and more. I could never say thank you enough. However, the bulk of recovery has happened because of faith and the determination that I will walk again.
Have a great weekend.
Much love and light, Grace aka Rocky
Dear Friends and Family, “Something wonderful will happen today”. So many of you e-mail to let me know of “something wonderful happening” in their life either that day, recently, or going to happen. It warms my heart to hear that my opening line is remembered and mentioned. It is my mantra!! I survived my Tallahassee trip last week with the Stone Middle School excursion. However, by the time we pulled into the parking lot at 9:15 p.m., my body was CRYING take me home to bed. All is well, loved the trip and the students.I am taking another excursion this weekend to Orlando, a 70-mile trip from Melbourne. Visiting longtime friends for either breakfast, lunch and dinner will keep me moving around but I can’t wait to share stories, life and love. Some friendships come in and out of your life and that is okay. We are all with people we need to be with for some connection learning and nurturing each other. Jeremy Taylor says: “Some friendships are made by nature, some by contract, some by interest and some by souls”. Having friendships in each category makes life interesting. The category of friends this weekend is a connection of souls. I feel so blessed to have friendships that make my soul shine. Connect today with a friend that you have not talked to in a while and feel your soul shine too. Have the best weekend ever, Grace aka Rocky
Dear Friends and Family,
“Something wonderful will happen today”. I am sending this out on Thursday evening because at 7:30 p.m. I will be, hopefully, asleep to get up at 2 a.m. Friday morning. I am chaperoning, along with several other folks, middle school students to Tallahassee to inspect some prospective colleges. We need to leave the school by 3:30 a.m., hence the early hour. It is part of the AVID program that I have joined. I tutor students twice a week who have the potential for college but for various reasons could miss the opportunity without having this extra help. I love it and the students are ready and willing to put forth this extra work for the chance of college. Isn’t that the case at all ages, needing a little help along the way to achieve what might be insurmountable? Do you dwell in possibility? Which road do you take, the easy, the complicated, or the sometimes inevitable because we fall short in getting the encouragement we need? If you have the opportunity to encourage someone in becoming all that they were meant to, please do. It takes such little effort to extend those kind words. I write these few words every week because a dear friend encouraged me to do so, as well as putting them in a book. Everyone needs and accepts that kindness given. Giving hope to everyone we know, including strangers that we meet and adding a smile is a gifted benefit as well. Make a difference to someone and it will long be remembered as part of your legacy.Have a joy-filled weekend.Much love and light,Grace aka Rocky
Dear Friends and Family,“Something wonderful will happen today”. With Valentine’s Day on Monday, I thought I would “talk” to you about love today. I found parts of this message among my notes and parts what I feel to be love. Everyone needs and wants to be noticed, talked to, nourished emotionally and most of all to be loved. The secret is we are all loved but many ignore the transmitters. Listen for love in those around us. If we listen intently, we will discover that we are loved a lot more than we realize. Love is a happy thing, it makes us sing. It makes us sad. It makes us cry. It makes us give. Above all else, it makes us live.It is not a matter of being present WITH someone; it is a matter of being present TO someone. If you love someone, tell them. Never be afraid to express yourself. Take this opportunity to tell someone what they mean to you. AHHHH, for the theme of love – Don’t settle for a relationship that will not let you be yourself! We are the most alive when we are in love!! What a dear ravishing thing the beginning of an Amour!! Most importantly, stay close to your friends and family. Make a difference in their life expressing how you feel.
